The 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games will be the biggest multi-sports event Scotland has ever hosted. With a budget of £373 million, including £298m of public funding, the Games will create a lasting sporting, social and economic legacy for the next generation in Scotland and across the globe. Quite simply, the aim is to deliver the best sporting event the Commonwealth has ever seen.
As Director of Marketing & Sponsorship, you’ll develop the Glasgow 2014 brand so it is attractive to every part of the Commonwealth. Using the latest technology and mediums you’ll ensure the brand works across a wide variety of business applications and, most importantly, can be used to achieve maximum income generation for the Games. A key part of this will be meeting the £24m domestic sponsorship target. Building on existing relationships, while targeting and creating new links with corporate companies from a range of sectors, you will develop, negotiate and close sponsorship deals to ensure maximum revenue.
An outstanding track record in either sports marketing or corporate sponsorship has seen you operate at the highest level. Here, you will have gained an in-depth understanding of sponsorship contracts and experience of putting together campaigns for sporting events. Strong communication and relationship building skills go without saying, as you work closely with key stakeholders to drive the Glasgow 2014 brand forward.
